Batch Reports

Updated on

Dexter's Batch Reports empowers you to simultaneously specify weather data for multiple locations, dates, and weather perils.

Accessing Dexter Batch Reports

When you log in to Dexter, Tracker is the default page that displays when the product is launched.

To access Dexter Reports, select the down arrow next the word Tracker in the header.

This will provide a list of the other sub-products available. In this case, you will select Batch Reports.

Creating a Dexter Batch Report

To create a Batch Report, you need a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file with 4 columns for:

  • Latitude
  • Longitude
  • Date
  • Peril

For files that have less than 1000 rows, the batch report will be shown within the Dexter user interface.

For files that have 1000+ rows, the batch report will be emailed.

Please limit your CSV file to a maximum of 50,000 rows.

To upload a CSV file stored locally on your device, select UPLOAD CSV FILE.

To manually type or copy/paste the values, select MANUAL CSV INPUT.

Please ensure that manually entered data values are separated by commas. If you have questions about CSV formatting, select VIEW CSV FORMATTING HELP.

Once you have uploaded your CSV file or have manually entered all desired data values, select CONTINUE.

After selecting CONTINUE, a pop-up box will appear to confirm your column header values.

Once you make your selections, select DONE.

The next page provides a preview of the formatted Batch Report, without weather data specified.

If you need to make changes, select PREVIOUS.

If you are satisfied with the preview output, select CONTINUE.

Next, let's choose the units, Imperial (US) or Metric.

Once you make your units selection, select GET BATCH REPORT.

Your Dexter Batch Report is now complete!

As shown above, the completed Dexter Batch Report includes the peril severity and timestamp for each event in addition to the event date, latitude, longitude, and peril that you provided.

To view more information about a specific event, select the Dexter icon (magnifying glass) along the right side of the Batch Report, this will open a Dexter Event Report for that specific weather event. (This feature is only available for Batch Reports with < 1000 rows)

Batch Reports with 1000+ rows

As noted above, any files that have 1000+ rows, the Batch Report will be emailed instead of being displayed in Dexter.

The workflow of creating a Batch Report with less than 1000 rows and 1000+ rows is identical, save one optional step.

  • For Batch Reports with 1000+ rows, Dexter provides the opportunity to create a file name for the report, before it is created and emailed.
  • The file name is optional and can be found on the page that units are set.

The emailed Dexter Batch Report will still include the peril severity and timestamp for each event in addition to the event date, latitude, longitude, and peril that you provided.

An example of the emailed output is included below.
