Please contact your Athenium Analytics Account Manager for information about setting up a customized blended risk score map and/or to discuss access to additional perils.

In this section, we'll discuss how to access and navigate Gauge Risk Maps.

Accessing Gauge Risk Maps

When you log in to Gauge, the Underwriting screen is the default page that displays when the product is launched.

To access Gauge Risk Maps, select the down arrow next to the word Underwriting in the header. This will provide a list of the other sub-products available.  In this case, you will select Risk Maps.

Selecting a Peril

When you access the Gauge Risk Maps screen, the RISK MAPS screen will default to display the Gauge Blended Overall Risk score map for the state(s) your company has been set up to access.  The Gauge Blended Overall Risk Score is a weighted average of the standard perils.   Companies will either have access to the Athenium Analytics default blended risk score map or their own custom map. If you would like to discuss the process to create a custom blended risk score map, please contact your assigned Athenium Analytics Account Manager.

Select the down arrow next to the word Blended Overall Risk in the header.  This will provide a list of the perils your company has been set up to access.

When you select a peril, you will notice the map colors will shift to reflect the risk score of the peril you have selected.

View Risk Information

Once you selected the peril or the blended overall risk selection from the menu, click on any location on the map that you would like to view risk information for.

If you have the Blended Overall Risk map selected, all the risk scores for the perils you have been set up to access will appear on the left side of the screen.

If you have selected a particular peril, such as Hail, the Gauge Hail Risk Score will display along with specific hail attributes, such as Annual Hail Probability and Historical Hail Occurrences

Once you have selected the peril you would like to assess further,  you have several ways of drilling into the data. This next section will illustrate options for navigating the Risk Maps screen.

Minimize the Risk Score Legend

It is often helpful to minimize the Risk Score legend box when moving around the screen.

Select the down arrow next to the word Risk Score in the Risk Score legend box. This will collapse the legend box allowing the full Risk Map to display.

To expand the Risk Score legend box, select the up arrow next to the word Risk Score

Navigation Control Tools

You can use the Navigation Control Tools to zoom in and out of the Risk Map.  The Navigation Control Tools are located in the upper right corner of the screen.

The zoom icon (+ sign) allows you to zoom into a desired location on the map.  In combination with using your mouse pointer and the zoom icon, you can pinpoint the exact area on the map that you would like to zoom into.

Left click on the zoom icon and the map will begin to zoom in and fill up the screen.

The FLOOD risk map is only viewable at the 30 mile zoom level.

If the area you are trying to zoom into is no longer on the screen, you just need to move your mouse off the zoom icon, hold down the left mouse clicker, and move your mouse in either direction and the map will move.

Also, you may notice that as you move your mouse across the map, the risk score for the cell you hover over will display.

Once you have found the location on the map that you would like to access risk information for, use your mouse to left click on this location.

If you have the Blended Overall Risk map selected, all the risk scores for the perils you have been set up to access will appear on the left side of the screen.

If you have selected a particular peril, such as Hail, the Gauge Hail Risk Score will display along with specific hail attributes, such as Annual Hail Probability and Historical Hail Occurrences.

To zoom out of a location, click on the minus sign (-).  The full map will start to display on the screen.
